Paper Conservation Laboratory

The Paper Conservation Laboratory was set up in 1986 and is responsible for the conservation of works of art on paper and the conservation of books and archival materials.

Its main function is the preservation and conservation of the MIET collections, the education of the personnel responsible for managing the collections on matters of preventive conservation and the support of the Foundation's cultural activities.

The Laboratory offers advice on preventive and active conservation to librarians, archivists, curators, collection managers, collectors etc. It undertakes the recording of the state of collections, as well as the conservation of works of art on paper for other non-profit organizations, following agreement with the directorable of MIET.

The Laboratory houses a library for the personnel, which is open to the public every Thursday 10:00-14:00, when the Laboratory can also be consulted by anybody interested in receiving advice.
